Vastarel (Trimetazidine) is prescribed to treat ischaemic heart disease (angina pectoris, sequelae of infarction). Vastarel has the active ingredient trimetazidine dihydrochloride. Each tablet of Vastarel has 20 mg of trimetazidine dihydrochloride. Vastarel tablets are modified release and film-coated. It is an anti-ischemic (anti-anginal) metabolic agent that develops myocardial glucose utilization through embarrassment of Fatty acid metabolism.
It is treated as the first cytoprotective anti-ischemic agent. It works by directly frustrating all the major metabolic disorders taking place within the ischemic cell. Trimetazidine limits intracellular acidosis, corrects disorder of transmembrane ion exchanges, and avoids too much manufacturing of free radicals.
Vastarel is used to treat episodes of angina pectoris (Chronic stable angina). It is also used for accessory symptomatic treatment for vertigo and tinnitus. This tablet is also applied for accessory treatment of visual disorders of a circulatory origin. By maintaining the energy metabolism in cells open to hypoxia or ischemia, trimetazidine thwarts a reduction in intracellular adenosine triphosphate levels. Thus it ensures the correct performance of ionic pumps and transmembranous sodium-potassium flow while preserving cellular homeostasis.
Dosage and administration
The appropriate dosage of Vastarel can be different for different people. A doctor should plan an appropriate dosing program depending on an individual's requirements. Usually one tablet is recommended both in the morning and the evening. Take the tablets at mealtimes with a full glass of water. If you take an overdose, a doctor or pharmacist should be discussed with without delay.
