Vasotec 20 mg

Generic for Vasotec (Enalapril) is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is also used in the treatment of congestive heart failure. Enalapril belongs to a group of drugs called ACE inhibitors. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems.

Generic Vasotec is an ACE inhibitor used to treat Hypertension. Enalapril-Hydrochlorothiazide (Generic Vasotec) controls high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing blood vessels. Generic Vasotec also helps to treat patients with congestive heart failure (heart does not pump strongly enough).

How to use:
Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from this medication.
Take each dose with a full glass of water.
Vasotec can be taken with or without food.
Vomiting, diarrhea, or heavy sweating can cause you to become dehydrated. This can lead to very low blood pressure, electrolyte disorders, or kidney failure while you are taking Vasotec. Drink plenty of water each day while you are taking this medication.
To be sure this medication is helping your condition, your blood pressure will need to be checked on a regular basis. Your kidney or liver function may also need to be tested. Do not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.
If you need to have any type of surgery, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are taking Vasotec. You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time.

Side Effects:
This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), difficulty breathing, little or no urine, chest pain, severe dizziness or fainting, or signs of an infection including a sore throat or a fever. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Vasotec and talk to your doctor if you experience mild dizziness or lightheadedness, headache, dry, tickling cough, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, arms, or legs, nausea or diarrhea, weakness or fatigue, or a rash.

Overdose:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include s extreme dizziness, weakness, fainting, and fatigue.
