Pack: 1 tube (20g)
Baneocin is a combined antibacterial medicine for external use. Bacitracin works by stopping or preventing bacterial infections by either killing susceptible bacteria or inhibiting their growth. Neomycin on the other hand is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It kills sensitive bacteria by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive.
Indications: Baneocin is used for treating focal infections of skin: furuncle, carbuncle, staphylococcic sycosis, deep folliculitis, spiradenitis, paronychia. Bacterial infections of skin with limited diffusion: impetigo contagiosa, infected sores of lower extremities, repeatedly infected eczema, repeated infection during dermatosis, cuts, bruises and burns, in cosmetical surgery and during skin transplantation. Infection prophylaxis after surgery. Not to be used for ophthalmic purposes.
Contraindications and cautions: BANEOCIN IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Baneocin shouldn't be used if a patient has increased sensitivity to the components of the preparation. Baneocin is not recommended for treatment of vast skin lesions due to possible ototoxic effect resulting in loss of hearing. Do not use Baneocin in patients with expressed dysfunction of excretory system due to heart or renal failure, and in patients who already have dysfunction of vestibular and cochlear apparatus if absorption of Baneocin is possible.
Baneocin should be used with caution:
• If possible absorption can result in myoneural block, especially in patients with acidosis, serious myasthenia or other neuromuscular illness.
If myoneural block occurs calcium and Neostigmin should be prescribed.
• During a long treatment period a health specialist should monitor the quantity of resistant microorganisms if the quantity exceeds normal levels adequate treatment should take place.
• The treatment of patients who suffer from allergic reactions should be ceased immediately.
Interactions: Tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this medicine. Simultaneous use of Baneocin with diuretics like etocrinic acid or furosemid can result in ototoxic and nephrotoxic effect. Use of Bactreocin can exponentiate the appearance of myoneural block if used on patients receiving drugs, anesthetics and muscle relaxants.
