Secnidazole is structurally related to the most widely used 5-nitroimidazoles metronidazole and tinidazole. This drug belongs to the category of antiprotozoal agents drugs. This drug is available as tablets.

Secnidazole is used in the treatment of
Intestinal ameobiasis
Fiardiasis
Trichomoniasis
Bacterial vaginosis
It is said that such disease symptoms can be treated with a single once only dose of Secnidazole.

Dosage of Secnidazole
For the treatment of intestinal amoebiasis & giardiasis: 1 day treatment ( Adults 2 gms, Children 30mg/kg body weight) as single dose.

Contraindications:
Pregnancy, Lactation, Hypersensitivity
