Brand Quinapril is in a group of drugs called ACE inhibitors. ACE stands for angiotensin converting enzyme. Quinapril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure.
How to use:
Tablet
* Your doctor will tell you how much of Brand Quinapril (Quinapril Hydrochloride) to take and how often. Do not take more medicine or take it more often than your doctor tells you to.
* You may take Brand Quinapril (Quinapril Hydrochloride) with or without food.
* Never share your medicine with anyone.
Vomiting, diarrhea, or heavy sweating can cause you to become dehydrated. This can lead to very low blood pressure, electrolyte disorders, or kidney failure while you are taking quinapril. Drink plenty of water each day while you are taking this medication.
If you have certain conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take this medication. Before you take quinapril, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:

kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);

liver disease;

heart disease or congestive heart failure;

diabetes; or
-
a connective tissue disease such as Marfan syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome, lupus, scleroderma, or rheumatoid arthritis.
Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Quinapril could cause birth defects in the baby if you take the medication during pregnancy. Use an effective form of birth control.
Stop using this medication and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment. Quinapril can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Side effects:
Brand Quinapril is generally well tolerated, and side effects are usually mild and transient. A dry, persistent cough has been reported with the use of quinapril and other ACE inhibitors. Coughing resolves after discontinuing the medication. Other side effects include abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, rash, dizziness, fatigue, headache, loss of taste, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fainting and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet. Brand Quinapril and other ACE inhibitors may also cause kidney failure and increased levels of potassium in the blood. The most serious but very rare side effects are liver failure and angioedema (swelling of lips and throat).
