Metaspray is a steroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It is used in the treatment of any nasal symptoms such as congestion, sneezing and runny nose that caused by the seasonal or year-round allergies. In addition, it is also prescribed as to treat nasal polyps in adults. It comes under the class of drug called glucocorticoid family of steroid hormones that is usually used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, an inflammation of the nose. These glucocorticoid hormones are called anti-inflammatory.

Metaspray is used in the treatment and prevention of nasal symptoms that are caused by seasonal and year-round allergies like runny nose, sneezing, and itchy nose. It is in a class of medications called topical steroids. It reduces inflammation (swelling) in the nasal passages.

Dosage and administration
You should use this medication as exactly as it was prescribed for you. And it is depended upon the medical conditions of the patients. So before using you need to be followed all the instructions that has been given by your doctor. You should not take in larger amounts, or use it for longer than suggested by your doctor.

Generally, the usual dose of Metaspray is 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril once daily. You may be told to use this nasal spray 2 to 4 weeks before the start of allergy season. Follow the instructions that have given by your doctor for your positive results.

Warning
Due to the replacement of a systemic corticosteroid with a topical corticosteroid some patients may experience symptoms of withdrawal like joint and/or muscular pain, lassitude, and depression. Therefore, caution must be given when patients previously treated for prolonged periods with systemic corticosteroids and are transferred to topical corticosteroids particularly in patients having asthma or other clinical conditions.

If the recommended dose is predisposed by virtue of recent systemic steroid therapy, symptoms of hypercorticism may occur like menstrual irregularities, acneiform lesions, and cushingoid features. If you notice such undesired events then slowly discontinue the use of topical corticosteroids. Persons who have not strong immune system are more susceptible to infections than healthy individuals. They may face chickenpox and measles as side effects and in addition they can have a more serious or even fatal course in nonimmune children or adults on corticosteroids. So, be careful while handling this medication unto you and carefully consult your doctor every detail of your medical conditions.

Contraindication
It is contraindicated in patients having hypersensitivity and allergic reactions to the product and its components.

Side effects
The possible side effects are sneezing, nasal irritation, and, occasionally, headache or sore throat and bleeding from the nose. It may also develop blood-tinged mucus/phlegm, unusual nasal bleeding or irritation/pain, allergic reaction like itching, rash, swelling, trouble breathing and dizziness. If you notice any of the above adverse effects then consult your doctor quickly.

Storage
It should be stored this medication in an upright position at a room temperature, away from moisture and heat and the reach of children and pets.
